It’s important to maintain the security of your VPS. One way of doing that is occasionally changing the password. There are multiple ways to change the password on a VPS.
On your VPS go to:
START Button (bottom left corner) > Windows Security > Change Password
Control Panel > User Accounts > Change Password
OR (if you don’t know the current password)
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Local Users and Groups > Users > [Administrator OR Trader] > Right Click > Set Password
If you do this last procedure you must logoff and log back on immediately to get a new logon token or Windows will start giving errors after a few minutes. This is due to you being still logged in with the old password.
Be sure to record the new password!!
We have updated KB (Knowledge Base) article on how to access ForexVPS using Java VNC. Please note that since Chrome update 42 Google has decided to stop supporting Java plugin so you need to use other browser, such as Internet Explorer, Opera or FirexFox.
Microsoft “Patch Tuesday” is upon us again. Microsoft releases new updates on the second Tuesday of each month. Looking at the list of updates this month there is one remotely exploitable update (MS15-034) but it is not applicable to our VPS unless you have personally installed Internet Information Server (IIS). We do not install IIS to our VPS by default.
Still, you should update your VPS at your next opportunity and especially if you use Internet Explorer browser as there is the usual cumulative update for Internet Explorer this month.
You can update your VPS by going to “Control Panel > Windows Update”. We recommend updating over weekends and rebooting after.
The SANS Internet Storm Center (ISC) has the best quick overview of the updates each month. https://isc.sans.edu/forums/diary/Microsoft+Patch+Tuesday+April+2015/19577/
